A shared standard
These guidelines keep Afterglow warm, adult, and safe. They apply in profiles, rooms, voice, direct messages, gifts, theme nights, and every other part of the service.
Think before you send. Be the person you would want to meet after a long day: kind, relevant, honest, and mindful of another person’s boundaries.
1. Show up warmly and honestly
Introduce yourself in good faith. Treat newcomers with care, stay relevant to the room’s purpose, and ask rather than assume. Do not impersonate someone else, misrepresent your identity, or use the service to recruit, advertise, or solicit members.
2. Respect consent and personal boundaries
Connections are mutual. Do not pressure a member to share personal contact details, leave Afterglow, turn on voice, send photos, disclose personal information, or become a connection. Accept “no,” silence, and a declined request without argument. Never share another person’s content or personal information outside the service without permission.
3. Keep harmful content out
The following are not allowed:
- harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, doxxing, or hateful or discriminatory language;
- sexual content, explicit imagery, sexual exploitation, or any content involving a minor;
- scams, fraud, requests for money, spam, phishing, or unapproved commercial promotion;
- graphic violence, encouragement of self-harm, illegal activity, or content that creates an immediate safety risk; and
- recording, copying, scraping, or redistributing room or member content without consent.
4. Use voice carefully
Voice is optional. Tell the room when you are speaking, respect people who prefer text, and never record live-room audio. Afterglow uses microphone access only while you deliberately enable voice or record a voice message. Live voice may be checked in real time for safety risks; it is not continuously recorded or stored as raw room audio.
5. How moderation works
We combine automated filters, real-time voice risk checks, member reports, and human review. We may remove content, end a room, limit features, suspend, or remove an account for serious or repeated violations. Do not try to bypass a restriction by creating another account.
6. Report and block concerns
If something breaks these guidelines or makes you feel unsafe, use Report and Block as soon as you can. Blocking hides content involving that person from your experience. Reports are reviewed by our moderation process; if there is an immediate danger, contact local emergency services rather than relying on Afterglow.
You can ask for a review of a moderation decision by emailing karlarosen58@icloud.com.
